Pop culture can often be equated with “mass culture” and ideas that are commercially produced for mass consumption through mass media. Since today’s world is constantly exposed to television, movies, music, magazines, comic books, and social media, anything that is widely publicized often gains automatic acceptance from the public without much questioning of its background or the truth it contains.
Issues such as casual sex, violence, adultery, underage drinking, and drug use are frequently presented in a superficial yet persuasive manner. As a result, the powerful influence of mass media on society is often used irresponsibly and in negative ways.
