CORRUPTED CONSCIENCE: A Dead Living

Neuroscience has made significant efforts to uncover the true nature of conscience, yet it has failed to fully explain it. Humanity has been granted an indescribable entity—a psychological monitor of life. Conscience remains one of the least understood aspects of mankind; it is the first judiciary established on earth, functioning with independence and strict impartiality. It forbids us from persisting in wrongdoing by generating a sense of guilt, serving as an internal evaluation system for our every action.Whether we choose to listen or not, the conscience never ceases its nagging, urging us to refrain from what is "wrong." In this context, "wrong" refers to any action that violates the standards set by the conscience itself. As an inbuilt moral system, it distinguishes between the moral and the immoral, though we have no clear evidence as to how it is originally trained to function this way.However, despite its power to guide people toward righteousness, the conscience is susceptible to corruption.

Many individuals suppress their conscience to continue down a path of wrongdoing. They intentionally abandon their feelings and shut down their internal monitor to avoid the sting of guilt. Today, we witness horrific and inhumane acts: ruthless violence, the exploitation of the vulnerable, and the abandonment of traditional moral foundations. Corruption has become a lifestyle for many; interestingly, all these individuals still receive an internal response to their actions, but they have decided to "switch off" the signal. This is what I call a corrupted conscience.

Living with a corrupted conscience is essentially a "dead living." It cannot be considered a true existence. Our conscience is the only eligible body to determine our genuine well-being. Therefore, if you truly desire to live an authentic life on earth, you must focus on the health and clarity of the conscience found within you.
